vivisecteurs.
It's now or never for the 310 monkeys currently imprisonned in
Nepal's monkey farm. The Minister of Forestry is due to make a
decision on the monkey breeding law any day now, and this will decide
the fate of Nepal's monkeys!
The campaign has applied enough pressure to ensure that the law is
actually being revised, but we must now make sure that monkey
breeding is banned when the new breeding law is announced. The
contacts listed below all have influence in Nepal's Ministry of
Forestry, so please use either the sample letter (provided) or your
own words to convince them to use their influence to get monkey
farming banned in Nepal!!!

SAMPLE LETTER:
I am writing to ask you to help stop the terrible monkey farming
which is
happening in Nepal. The Ministry of Forestry is currently re-writing
the
Working Policy on Wild Animal Farming, Breeding and Research, (2003),
which
currently permits monkey farming for scientific research abroad.
The US laboratory where Nepal's monkeys will be sent, the Southwest
Foundation
for Biomedical Research (SFBR), has a terrible record of animal
treatment. Last
year they even unlawfully dissected a monkey whilst it was still
alive, which
is one of the most shocking breach of American animal welfare laws of
recent
years. You can read all about the SFBR and their abuse of monkeys
here:
http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/tx/res-fr-tx-swf.html
A farm is crrently active in Lele with over 300 monkeys and it has
recently
been disclosed that at least 30 monkeys have died there through
neglect and
lack of care. A video of the farm can be seen here:
http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=0uGqiJnbe30
These innocent animals are highly intelligent and have a massive
capacity to
suffer and there can be no excuse for permitting the infliction of
such
shocking mistreatment upon them. Please use your influence with the
Ministry of
Forests and Soil Conservation to ensure that monkey farming is banned
in Nepal
by the new legislation, without exception!
You can contact the Ministry of Forestry here:
